Welcome to Ed and Paula Hinely's Family Genealogy Pages

That is me above. I am Edward Richard Hinely. My family and most of my high school and college friends still call me Edward. Most everyone else, especially those I have met since college, call me Ed.

I met Paula when I was 44. I was innocently sitting at my computer one night when my ICQ instant messenger popped up with a "hi" from some woman calling herself jawjapeach. I hesitated in answering for a couple of minutes because of questionable folks I had chatted with over the internet. I finally answered her and we began chatting. As it turned out, we had a lot in common. We were both Christians and Southern Baptists. We were also employed in school systems working with special needs students. I was the RVI coordinator in Dooly County, GA; she was a paraprofessional in special needs pre-school in Newton County, GA. At the time I was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pitts, GA. I worked to serve the Lord not only through my vocation, but also in my Christian life at church. I was a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and served on various other committees. My friends, and probably my family, thought I was single for life and would always be at Pleasant View.

I was single and did not date much. I had never been married, so I had no children. After I started talking to Paula, and started coming to Covington to visit her, I decided that maybe it was time for me to leave the safe, peaceful world of the place I had come to call home. I had live in and around Pitts for about 20 years. After we first spoke on the internet, we talked for a while and then dated as best we could with me being in South-Central Georgia and her being in Covington. I accepted a job in the Newton County School System in the area of Special Education and moved on up. On the first anniversary of our meeting on the internet, we were married at Alcova Mountain Baptist Church, where Paula had lived as a teenager. That was on November 10, 2000. Since that time we are living happily ever after.

If you have seen Paula's pages, you have seen the grandchildren. I tell people that I did what few people have been able to do, I lived the bumper sticker: "If I had known having grandchildren was so much fun, I would have had them first." Paula and I take it as our responsibility to spoil the boys. We do a good job of it. You can see Bradley, Bennett and Brayden on the "grandchildren&" page of this site.

As mentioned above, I am a Christian and very happy to be able to say that I am saved and bound for heaven. I have been very blessed during my life. The first was being born into a Christian family. Daddy was a preacher who lived the life that all should live. Mama has always been a beacon to me in all aspects of my life. Together Mama and Daddy led all of their children to the Lord. My sisters and brother are the kind of siblings that everyone wishes for. As a teacher, I see so many people who cannot get along with their family. I am happy to say that we are all friends in my family. Paula's parents and brother and sister are also Christians and have Christian families. Again, I have been blessed.

I am going to add pictures to Ed 2 of this site, so you can see some of my pictures and those of my parents and siblings. Enjoy the site.
