Here are a few pictures of Mama's family. I hope you enjoy them.

Granddaddy Willis Hand and Grandmama Missouri Ellis Hand around 1938

These are my maternal grandparents, Willis and Missouri Ellis Hand. They had nine children who lived into adulthood: Perry, Mattie, Ruth, Abbie, Mary, Sally, Grace, Ovella, and Wright. Mama was Ovella Hand before marrying Daddy. They were married on August 17, 1947. Two other daughters died in early childhood. Aunt Sally Quall was killed in an automobile accident on May 13, 1971. Granddaddy died in 1940 and Grandmama died in 1970.
The pictures on this page will be of Mama, her parents, siblings, other relatives with a few of Mama and Daddy.
I hope that my information is correct. If not, please feel free to contact me. Also, if you have any other pictures that you think I'd be interested in, please send them. I would love to have them. As I stated on the Hinely page, I hope to eventually add a copy of the family pedigree chart.

Grandmama Missouri Hand in Alma, GA

Grandmama Missouri Ellis Hand

Grandmama was born on January 27, 1884 and died 0n December 26, 1970. She was born in Appling County and lived most of her life in Appling, Jeff Davis and Bacon Counties, at least as far as I know.

I have many memories of visiting her, first at an OLD house down the street from the Bacon County Board of Education. She lived in the front three rooms (a kitchen, a living/bed room, and a bedroom. She shared a bathroom with a lady who lived in the rest of the house. They never did have hot water in this house, I remember Mama having to boil water to make a bath. When she moved, she moved to a two bedroom house up the street from Aunt Mary. This was a good move. Some of her children bought her a TV and I think paid for cable, such as it was then. There are a lot of other things that I don't really have time or space to type right now, but if you have any memories of the family that you would like to add, please feel free to place it in the Forum on the Home page.
